5 Uses for a Vintage Style Bucket

Tips

Posted 11/04/2018

Vintage decor is alive and well in 2018. With so many different avenues you can take this style of decor down it can feel like a bit of a maze trying to figure out how to finish a room. What we love to do is approach design from the other way and find some timeless items before you even know where you might put them.

The vintage bucket is a favourite and one that let’s you get creative with very little effort…

Make your kindling a feature

If you love the look of your wood burner and are sad that it will be half a year before you can light it again then why not add a few finishing touches to give it some much needed TLC? A vintage bucket is the ideal place to store some dried twigs from the woods so that you can make a real feature of your kindling. Don’t just drop them in randomly; if you have them sticking out the top at just the right variety of lengths you’ll be able to create a lovely vintage touch.

Vintage bin

Nothing spoils the look of a lovely wooden or tiled floor in the home office like a plastic waste paper bin right by your desk. Pop that vintage bucket down in its place and you’ll have the perfect combination of style and functionality.

Toy box!

If you love to have your little people playing in the lounge but don’t know what to do with all their Lego and action figures then why not put your bucket to good use? Keep it in a corner and when playtime is over get the kids to pop everything away in it. Now you have a way to keep your beautiful stained wooden floor neat and tidy that also matches it!

Umbrella stand

The problem with umbrellas is that they never look tidy and they’re always getting knocked over on your way out the door. Add a little weight to the bottom of your bucket and you’ll have the perfect umbrella. Ideal for adding a little bit of vintage character to your porch or hallway.

Cleaning bucket

Making your house a home is all about adding those little bits and pieces that make you smile. We all have a cupboard in the house stuffed full of cleaning products that we’re forever battling our way into. How about using a bucket or two to group your products? You could have one for the car and one for the floors. It’s these little tweaks that make your home truly special.
