When choosing blinds for your child’s bedroom or playroom, safety, practicality and design should be at the top of the list of requirements.
For child safety, we recommend opting for cord-free blinds for added peace of mind. However, all of our made to measure blinds come with a safety device which allows you to tie cords and chains safely out of the way of children and prevent any risk caused by controls.
Create an atmosphere where they can relax and wind down with a blackout blind which blocks out light to encourage sleep and restfulness during sleep time. For during the day, our kids Roller blinds and kids Roman blinds offer a vast array of fun colours and patterns for your kid’s room to encourage creativity and play or something more soft and calming to create a serene atmosphere within a nursery. Both are available with blackout and thermal linings.
For practicality and sticky-hands friendly blinds, we recommend blinds which are easy to clean, made from either with a wipe clean material or have removable and washable fabrics.
We recommend cord-free blinds as the best and safest choice for children’s blinds. As a member of the British Blinds and Shutters Association, 247 Blinds adheres to BBSA’s strict guidelines and regulations surrounding child safety. Therefore, all of our blinds have a maximum of one metre chain and cord length. We also provide a safety device on all of our blinds which enables you to tie the pull cord safely out of the way of children, a vulnerable person or pets. If your blind is being fitted in a space where children are going to be e.g. in a bedroom, playroom or nursery, then you MUST fit the safety device in line with our instructions.
Whilst blackout blinds aren’t essential, they can act as a sleeping aid for your little one. Often referred to as “the sleepy hormone”, melatonin is naturally produced by our bodies when we are in dark environments. As blackout blinds block out external light, they help babies and children drift off to sleep easier, particularly during the summer months when the nights are lighter. They can also help them to stay asleep for longer and prevent early morning wake ups that come with light filtering into their room.
Blackout blinds have a dual function in that they can also help to keep a room cool and protected from summer heat, as well as block out light. They can also do the opposite and help to keep the heat in during the winter. This contributes to an even more comfortable sleep environment for your little one.
