5 Ways to Add Personality to Your Dining Room

Of all the rooms in the home, the dining room can often be the most difficult to put your stamp on, especially if it’s separate to both your kitchen and living room. It may not be used that often or may be a ‘through’ room, mostly used as a way of getting to the kitchen or the stairs, and can end up looking a little plain. But there are a few ways that you can add some ‘oomph’ to your dining area, and all it takes is a little window dressing!
1. Giant letters
Simple yet effective, giant letters are a great way of adding some fun personality to any room, and make a great centrepiece or piece of wall art for a dining room. Think words like ‘eat’, ‘dine’, or ‘family’ to keep it relevant.
2. A chandelier
Nothing draws the eye into a room like a stunning chandelier. Adding one to your dining room, centred to your dining table, can create an ambience of full-on drama and add real wow-factor.
3. Flowers
They might sound like an obvious choice, but flowers are an old classic for very good reason! They’re pretty and affordable, yet many people these days skip them for being too high-maintenance. If that’s you, consider going for silk or dried flowers – they can look just as gorgeous and won’t need changing!
4. Lay it up
Even if you don’t eat in the dining room regularly, laying the table ready to eat can add personality and a homely lived-in feel. All you need are some placemats and napkins, plus your usual cutlery and plates, and you’ve got a fully laid-up table!
5. Go bright
When in doubt, add some colour! Nothing says personality like bright, bold tones, whether they’re oranges, pinks, blues, or reds. Add colour to your dining room and plenty of it!
