5 Ways to Create Stunning Decor on a Budget

Tips

Posted 27/04/2018

We all love our decor and we all have an eye for a bargain. The best feeling in life is when the two come together in perfect harmony and you discover a way to create an amazing looking room with money to spare. Take a look at a few of our ideas and tell us what you think.

Homemade throws

When you want to breathe new life into your couch why not spend a few pennies on a set of pristine dust sheets from a DIY store? Go for a light beige and choose a size that will cover your couch and armchair with room to spare. That way you can create a casual and easy going look in your lounge in a matter of minutes. Add a few scatter cushions in darker colours and you are good to go!

Blinds

A made to measure set of blinds can often come in significantly cheaper than a thick set of curtains. All you’ll need to do is select a style and a design that’s in-keeping with the rest of your room and you’ll be able to enhance your decor in minutes. The guest bedroom is a great option if you want to add a stylish finishing touch without breaking the bank.

Wood burning

You can buy a wood burning pen from any hardware store and use it to create just about anything you dream up. A couple of lengths of scrap wood can be sanded down and fitted with a length of twine to hang them. Once you’ve mastered wood burning you can then create homely bathroom and nursery signs that make your house feel like a home.

Photo lines

This is probably the simplest idea on our rundown but one that you’ll want to create straight away. Get some miniature wooden clothes pegs and a couple of metres of twine. Chose a dozen or so of your favourite family photos and then clip them on; that’s it! We love the idea of hanging lines vertically in a corner of the living room. Perfect for creating that homely look and feel that we all love.

Baton frames

The first thing you need to do is find your favourite poster, preferably something a little bit vintage or rustic. Now sand a couple of thin wooden batons and apply a coat of varnish. Staple one to the bottom edge of the poster and one across the top. Lastly staple some twine to the top baton and hang it up. This is such a cool way of creating a unique frame that you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it before!
