It can seem like a tedious task to get your little ones back into a healthy bedtime routine that works for all the family.
While sharing snaps of your days at the beach with plastered ice cream smiles can seem like the hot topic at the moment, it’s also a great time to start preparing you and your mini you for the ‘Back to School routine’ to ensure a stress-free transition from the playground to the classroom. Early nights with children are like gold dust, especially when the sun is still glaring in your home at 7pm, but we’re here for you! With some top tips on how to prepare for the fast-approaching September term.
So grab a cuppa and get comfy, we’re about to make early nights a whole lot easier.
Prepare And Organise
We still have a week or so left before the holidays come crashing down, so make sure you're easing in those early nights and getting them prepared for what’s to come. Your little one is in need of some structure, so in order to prepare, we recommend starting on a clean slate. Clear out the clutter from the wild school holiday state of your kid's room. Start by throwing out anything that is too small after the summer growth spurt. Swap all the old school uniforms for their new clean sets and make sure their bedroom is ready for the whirlwind of chaos. No more last-minute searching for a clean set of socks!

A Task Planner
Children love completing something successfully and earning validation and praise. To help ease you both into a routine that works, try a task planner to help your little ones work towards a trip to the park or an extra hour watching TV at the weekend. Letting them help make a planner using colours they choose and adding their own little touches like stickers or drawings will help keep their attention and create an exciting opportunity for both parents and children. Start off by adding the first task of the evening and work your way through to them helping you close the blinds or curtains and snuggling down into bed, you can also create a morning routine section too to help make those early mornings easier!

A Bubble Bath
A glaringly obvious one, and one of the most recommended, bath times are ideal for setting the scene to bedtime, they help your little one relax and clear their mind of the busy adventures they have been on that day. If your little adventurer isn’t a fan of bath time, try making it fun, to begin with encouraging imagination. There’s a jellyfish in the water that needs rescuing, can your little one help rescue them? If that doesn’t work, a lavender bath bomb or bath toys may help do the trick. Make sure they’re keeping track of their task planner once bath time is finished.
We have a wide range of children inspired blinds to help make bath times a little easier.
