Your bathroom is a pretty key room in the house. You want to be able to relax in there, but you also want it to be a functional room that’s easy to use – and to clean. And just as important? Style! As with any room in the home, you want your bathroom to reflect you and your family, as well as be in-keeping with the rest of your house or flat. Here are a few top tips for making that happen!
1. Accent a neutral background with bright colours
This is a useful idea for any room, but one that works particularly well in the bathroom, as it allows you to change your colour and décor scheme quickly and easily, with little expense. Keep your tiling, flooring, and bathroom suite white, and insert colour into the room using interchangeable accessories, like towels, window blinds, and soaps.
2. Add some wood to the room
Many people avoid using wood in the bathroom, simply because they feel it’s not practical. But as long as it’s properly treated and you’re not regularly soaking it with water, there’s no reason why you can’t have it in there. It adds a lovely homely feel, and works in both contemporary and traditional bathrooms.
3. Keep it neutral
If you like your bathroom to be a place of calm and tranquillity, you might want to consider leaving out the colour and keeping it neutral. Cream and biscuit tones, or even pale greys, can work wonderfully in the bathroom, keeping it feeling clean and serene.
4. Go for gold
Have you ever considered skipping the chrome fixings and going for a different colour instead? Gold-coloured or brass taps can look simply stunning and can set your bathroom worlds apart from others. And they’re not just for a traditional look either; they work just as well in a contemporary setting.
