Choosing Between Roller Blinds & Roman Blinds

Tips

Posted 28/08/2018

When it comes to choosing a blind for your home, you’re not short of options. Two popular choices are roller blinds and roman blinds, often seen as the more ‘traditional’ choices for home blinds. So, how do you choose which of the two types to get for your home? Here are a few factors that might help you to make up your mind:

Style

The style of your home is of course likely to influence your choice of blind. Both roller blinds and roman blinds are versatile enough to work in almost any kind of home, which doesn’t really help your decision-making process, does it? That said, roman blinds do seem to particularly suit the more traditional, older home, and country or rustic settings. Perhaps its those soft, neat curves that give it a slightly more traditional look. Roller blinds, on the other hand, are sleek and minimalist, regardless of the pattern, and work wonderfully in more contemporary settings.

Ease of use

If you’re going to be operating a blind on a regular basis, you want it to be easy to use. Neither romans or rollers are difficult to operate but roller blinds are just a touch simpler. Just a touch, mind, and simply because they run in straight line and without any folds. The difference is minimal!

Price

Of the two types of blinds, roller blinds tend to be cheaper than romans – although not always. They’re a simpler format and that’s reflected in the price. Often though, the price difference is marginal, so you may find it doesn’t affect your decision too much. But if money is a particularly important factor for you, as it is for many of us, then you may find you get that bit more roller blind for your money than you do roman blind!
