The title says it all really, so let’s jump straight into the mix as there’s no time to waste at this time of year.
Dry your logs so the fire always lights first time
If you’re lucky enough to have an open fire or a log burner, then this is the time of year when it really comes into its own. Keep a small pile of logs drying out in the utility room so that they’ll be bone dry by the time you’re ready for them. You’ll notice the difference between how they light compared to logs you’ve had to venture out in the cold to get from the shed.
Early Christmas Boxes
You might choose the first of the month, Christmas Eve, or somewhere in between. The choice is yours really, and when you make the effort to do it all you’ll be able to get everyone in the festive mood. Ideal if you’re looking to add another Christmas tradition to the family home this year.
Stock up on the Christmas PJs
If you want everyone in the front room cozying up in front of the fire, then what better way to do it than by handing out the festive PJs and loungewear a few days early? That way you’ll all be the in the mood to relax and see out the end of the year.
Dim the lights
This is such a simple thing to do, and you’ll be amazed at what a difference it makes to your ambience. If you haven’t got the time to have someone fit a dimmer switch, then why not swap out your high wattage overhead lighting for a few warm white candle lights. They’ll give a warmer softer light, and will help add to that cosy glow that no home should be without at this time of year.
