Pleated blinds feature neat, fabric folds that create a sleek concertina effect. These particular pleated blinds are "free-hanging", meaning they don't sit within a frame unlike their Perfect Fit counterparts and are instead fixed using brackets drilled into the wall or window recess.
A number of our Perfect Fit pleated fabrics are also available in free-hanging pleated. Although our free-hanging selection is slightly more limited, if you find a fabric you like and the name is the same across both product types, it's the exact same material! The only difference lies in the fitting method and system used, and not the fabric itself.
Our pleated blinds come as a standard style known as "bottom up", where the fabric is attached to the headrail at the top of the blind, and you push it from the bottom-up to open. Multizone takes this flexibility up a notch with a 'top down, bottom up' design. This lets you adjust the fabric from either the top or the bottom of the blind, giving you the freedom to position it just where you need for the perfect balance of light and privacy. Both styles are great, but multizone is a game-changer for managing sunlight, particularly in rooms with south-facing windows.
In short, yes! Any blind fitted close to the glass will act as a thermal barrier and offer some energy-saving benefits, but some fabrics are specially designed with this functionality in mind! Our entire honeycomb range offers energy-saving benefits thanks to the comb-like structure of the pleats helping to promote air flow, but our foil-lined honeycomb blackout fabrics are top of the class when it comes to energy-efficiency!
Corded means your blinds come with a handy set of control cords that run through the headrail at the top and hang down to allow you to operate the blind. For the standard (bottom up) option, you'll get to choose whether you'd like the cords on the left or right side. If you're opting for multizone however, you'll find cords placed on either side of the blind to allow you to adjust the blind from both the top and bottom. Thanks to their simpler system, corded blinds have a slimmer headrail than their cordless counterparts.
Cordless means you won't have a control cord to adjust your blinds. Instead, they operate on a clever tensioned system that lets you easily adjust the fabric with a gentle push or pull. This means the cordless headrail is a bit bulkier - around twice the size of its corded counterpart - in order to house the tensioned system and keep any cords out of sight!
As well as choosing from our range of pleated fabrics, you can also choose your rail colour - available in White, Anthracite, and Silver. If you're thinking of mixing and matching your controls, keep in mind that our corded and cordless top and bottom rails are made from different materials and therefore don't have matching finishes.
Pleated blinds are fitted similarly to a lot of our other products, they are simply attached using brackets which are screwed into the wall or window recess. Depending on the width of your blind, we'll send anywhere from 2 to 5 brackets to ensure everything stays snug and secure, the wider your blind, the more brackets it will come with. Every pleated blind in our collection provides some thermal benefits, and the closer you're able to fit them to the glass, the better their thermal performance will be. Our standard pleated blinds trap air with their plissé folds, boosting insulation, whilst our honeycomb fabrics take this up a notch trapping air in their clever comb-like structure. For the ultimate climate control, opt for our foil-lined honeycomb fabrics which work wonders in keep rooms warm in winter and cool in summer!
Our most popular pleated option, honeycomb is the name given to our range of pleated fabrics that boast a comb-like, hexagonal shape when viewed side on. This isn't just for looks, it cleverly conceals the blinds cords and created little pockets of air to boost thermal insulation. So whether you're looking to beat the heat during the summer months, or keep cosy during winter, our honeycomb blinds work year-round to make your home more comfortable.
All of our blinds are produced with child-safety in mind. Our corded pleated blinds include cord condensers and a convenient wall cleat, allowing you to neatly and securely wrap cords out of the way. For those looking for that extra peace of mind, upgrade to our cordless system to remove the control cords all together. These blinds operate smoothly with just a gently push or pull on the rails.
Light-filtering fabrics strike a balance between brightening your space with natural light whilst still offering privacy. With a range of opacities and textures, they're perfect for places like conservatories, kitchens, and living rooms, where blackout fabrics might remove too much natural light.
