How to measure your blinds

247 Pro Tips:

If your recess depth is 60mm or less or the window opens inwards, you'll be best off with an exact fitting. For recesses bigger than 60mm it's really just a matter of personal taste.
When measuring to fit inside the recess, check for anything such as tiling or picture rails that could get in the way and take them into account when measuring. We normally advise just to measure between any tiling so as to ensure a nice, snug fit.
For the best results when measuring for an exact fitting, allow your blind to overlap the edges of the recess by at least 35mm on each side. We'll then make a blind for your exact measurements and ship it with the brackets which will add an additional 3mm to the size you give us.

Additional Information:

We try to make the measuring and ordering process as simple as possible - so for a recess fitting, we only require the full size of your recess space and we will make small adjustments to enable the blind to fit within that space. We make a 5mm deduction to the width of Roman blinds. If you wish to make your own allowances and do not require us to make them, please select exact fitting and not recess during the order process.

I am not sure on the differences between recess and exact sizes?

If you are fitting your roman blind on the inside of your window then this would be (Recess) alternately If you are wanting the blind to sit outside of the window frame this would be (Exact), if your still unsure view our measuring guide.

Which rooms are suitable for roman blinds?

Roman blinds add a touch of luxury to most rooms, especially bedrooms and living rooms. Due to the soft texture, layers and different fibres involved, Roman blinds may not be a great fit for a bathroom or kitchen. However, we can recommend the perfect blinds for your bathroom here.

Where are roman blinds made?

All our roman blinds are custom made in the UK.

What are the controls on roman blinds?

Roman blinds are operated on a sidewinder chain attached to the headrail, you simply pull the chain to move the horizontal panels to the top forming a neat pleated stack when opened or pull the opposite side of the chain for a flat layer of fabric when closed. You will have the option to have the sidewinder on either the left or right when ordering.

What are the lining options?

We offer four different types of lining with great benefits essential for any home. Standard lining is at no extra cost and perfect if you want to keep the room bright and airy without blocking out all the light. Blackout lining is an extra cost but worth it for bedrooms to help you get a great night sleep, we also offer thermal and interlining to help insulate you room in winter and keep it cool in summer. What colour is the sidewinder chain?

As standard with all our roman blinds, you will receive a chrome sidewinder chain. chrome chains are made from nickel, easy to clean and rust-free!

Can I buy matching curtains and accessories?

Yes! We offer hundreds of matching curtains and accessories over on our sister site, 247Curtains.

Can I order fabric only?

Yes, you can buy selected fabric by the metre although it’s not on our website our friendly customer services team will be happy to help if you contact us about it.

Will I need screws/rawl plugs to fit roman blinds?

Although we do supply the necessary brackets, we don’t supply screws or rawl plugs. Decent rawl plugs and 15-25mm self-tapping screws do the trick for most fixing areas.

How accurate are the images to the roman blind’s fabric?

We have a great imagery team aimed at making the images match the fabric exactly. However, there are lots of textured fabrics and some screens will show them slightly different so we would recommend ordering a few of your favourite designs through our FREE SAMPLE service.

All fabric is applied to the headrail using a Velcro heading. The headrail is white painted over metal (32mm projection, 37mm height).

Brackets are white painted metal 'swivel' clips (40mm projection, 30mm height).

The sidewinder control is designed to offer a smooth operation using a chrome chain.

Please note that Roman blinds with a width greater than 120cm MAY have 2 vertical seams due to the fabric width/design. The reason for having 2 seams is to keep the blind symmetrical; 1 central panel with 2 matched panels either side.

Roman blinds have a minimum stack height (this is the height the blind takes up when fully open) of 20cm at the smallest size of 40cm width & drop. For every 10cm added an approx. 1cm is added to this size. This size can vary on the chosen blind and lining fabric. For an accurate stack measurement for your sizes, please contact our customer service team for more information.

All our blinds are manufactured and supplied to be compliant with child safety regulations. As part of this compliance, all control cords and chains will be made to a maximum of 1 metre. If you need to discuss this, please contact us.

All items are cut to size and will be accurate with working tolerances and variances of +/- 5mm.

WARNING

Young children can be strangled by loops in pull cords, chains, tapes and inner cords that operate the product.

To avoid strangulation and entanglement, keep cords out of the reach of young children.

Cords may become wrapped around a child’s neck. Move beds, cots, and furniture away from window covering cords.

Do not tie cords together. Make sure cords do not twist and create a loop.
