Other Shutter Sizes and Dimensions

Full Height Shutters – These are designed to fit in the full height of the window.  These are the most popular option

• Café Shutters – Great for rooms where total privacy isn't required, also great for windows that have a natural sectioned top and bottom half.

• Tier on Tier – These use two sets of shutters are within one frame, with panels you can operate independently of the other.

Full Height Shutters are the most popular option for their classic look. 

Café Shutters are great at providing a little bit of light and privacy control, without losing all the natural light in the room.

Tier on Tier Shutters offer total panel control, and like all shutters create an opulent finish.

And then choose the suitable frame type for how you plan to fit to your window.

L Frame shutters allow you to position the shutters at the front of the recess, with the panels opening flat against the wall.

Z Frame Shutters are positioned at the front edge of the recess, and juts outwards thus creating a natural architrave stylee

If the recess is more than 15mm out of square, using the Z frame may be more suitable, and it will require less remedial work.

For both options, be aware of any obstructions, such as the windows opening inwards, window handles and window sills.

1A) Choosing the L frame allows you to position the shutters at the front of the recess, which allows for opening panels flat against the side walls.

1B) Alternatively, the Z frame is positioned at the edge of the recess, creating a traditional style architrave outside the recess. 

1) Measure the width and the drop inside the recess, three times at both the top and the bottom.  We deduct 3mm from your entered sizes automatically, so you don't have to worry about taking anything off yourself!

2) Now check the squareness of the window by measuring diagonally across the recess in both directions.

If the recess is more than 15mm out of square, then selecting the Z frame option instead, might be more suitable.

Then simply jot down your sizes, then order samples in your chosen slat width and colour to get the perfect look.

For shutters over 1600mm, a mid-rail is included, which adds rigidity to the panels. This will usually be placed half way.

Please state the position of the mid-rail by measuring up from where the bottom of the frame will be fixed, to where you require it.  This will typically be where this a transom on the window.

For Tier on Tier shutters measure as standard full height shutter but ascertain the height of the tiers by measuring up from where the bottom of the frame will be fixed to where you require the split of the tiers.

On widths over 1500, a T-post is provided by default.*

For Café Style, to ascertain the finished height to the top of the panel, again measure up from the bottom where the frame will be fixed to where you want the panel to finish.
