Some of us love the minimalist look, and some of us just love to fill every available space with something pretty to look at! And to the latter group, a large expanse of window is just begging to be decorated. But what with? Once you’ve added a vase or ornaments to the windowsill, it can be hard to come up with ideas for the window itself. Here’s some inspiration:
1. Fairy lights
String lights aren’t just for Christmas you know! A nice row of white or yellow fairy lights across your window can look so pretty, and really adds a sense of cosiness. Just be sure they don’t pose a fire hazard if you choose to open the window when it’s raining!
2. Garlands
Hanging a garland of baubles, hearts, or simply anything you fancy can be a great way of livening up a bare window. Garlands can be cheap to buy, or you can make your own using twine and ribbon.
3. Bunting
If vintage chic is your thing, then you’ll love the idea of hanging some cute bunting in the window. Paper bunting tends to be cheaper than fabric if you’re on a budget, or you could even make your own.
4. Tealight holders
Becoming more and more popular are sweet 3D shapes, such as metal owls and hearts, designed to hold a tealight in the middle. A little door opens up for you to place your tealight and a long chain means you can hang your shape from wherever you please. Just don’t forget to blow the candles out!
5. Hanging shapes
Whether you love stars, hearts, or animals, a cute shape, perhaps twine or wicker, hanging from your window adds character and fun. Wicker hearts are popular and easy to buy, and usually come with a ribbon ready for hanging.
6. Window stickers
Much like wall decals, window decals are slick and easy to use. They don’t need to be seasonal items, as there are plenty around for using all year round. Just remember, less is more – and make sure they’re easy to remove should you wish to!
